Finishing starts with a clear objective

Finishing should do more than look ‘premium’: it should fulfil a specific purpose, such as highlighting a brand element, providing orientation, protecting a surface or supporting perception at the point of sale. Only then can the technically and economically appropriate process be determined.

Distinguish between the available processes

Dispersion and other varnish coatings can affect the surface and printed image. Blind embossing shapes the board without additional colour; foil stamping transfers a decorative layer. Relief varnish creates a selectively applied, tactile varnish layer. Not every process works equally well on every board or design.

  • Material surface and absorbency
  • Design size, line width and position
  • Clearance from creases, cuts and gluing areas
  • Stacking, friction and erection behaviour
  • Production quantity, tooling costs and desired reproducibility

In-house processes and partner services

HvC coordinates printing, varnishing, die cutting, embossing and gluing during packaging development. Specialist finishing such as hot-foil stamping and relief varnish is not carried out at our own factory but is coordinated with qualified partners where required.

Recyclability and the material documentation required for the project are also considered during selection. Blanket statements about environmental suitability or suitability for contact are not reliable without a specific specification.

Your application sets the requirements.

We would be happy to discuss which structure and material suit your product and process.
