How hot-foil stamping works

In hot-foil stamping, a heated stamping die transfers a thin decorative layer from a carrier film onto the printing substrate. Pressure, temperature, contact time, tooling and the board surface must be coordinated.

The process is particularly suitable for logos, lettering, lines or selected design elements. Very fine designs, large solid areas and areas close to creases require careful technical assessment.

Plan it into the design early

Finishing affects artwork preparation, tooling, material selection and the production sequence. Taking it into account during packaging development allows the position of the design, registration, cutting outline and folding to be coordinated effectively.

  • Board surface and any varnish coating
  • Clearances from cutting, creasing and gluing areas
  • Print run, quality requirement and approval sample

Production through specialist partners

HvC does not carry out hot-foil stamping at its own factory. Where it makes sense for a project, we coordinate production with specialist partners and take the finishing into account in structural design, prepress and production planning. Technical coordination therefore remains part of the overall project without presenting a partner service as our own manufacturing operation.

Your application sets the requirements.

We would be happy to discuss which structure and material suit your product and process.
