What distinguishes a machine-compatible blank
A machine-compatible blank is delivered flat and erected in a packaging machine. Depending on the structure, it is folded, glued or closed using tuck-in and locking mechanisms. Unlike purely manual solutions, its geometry and material behaviour must remain within narrow limits coordinated with the equipment.
The term therefore describes more than the shape of the packaging. It refers to a solution developed and tested for a defined machine process.
Where the benefits lie
A suitable machine-compatible solution can reduce repetitive manual operations and provide a consistent packaging process. Flat blanks also save space during transport and storage until they are used.
- Reproducible erection and closing
- Integration into defined cycle rates and material flows
- Less manual handling at suitable production quantities
- Printable area for labelling and brand communication
- A structure tailored to requirements instead of additional components
The benefits are project-specific
Whether a machine-compatible blank is economically suitable depends on factors including production quantity, variety of versions, setup effort, equipment concept and the cost of potential interruptions. Blanket savings figures are not reliable without these data.
HvC develops and produces machine-compatible blanks from solid board and coordinates them with the customer's technical contacts. Samples and trials on the intended line provide the basis for series-production approval.
Your application sets the requirements.
We would be happy to discuss which structure and material suit your product and process.
